Getting dressed for Christmas Parties used to mean cocktail dresses, elaborate hair and make up, and bringing an incredible side dish that took hours to prep. Now? Not quite the same deal. I think I am perfecting the way to dress for a kid-friendly party, still feel a little dressed up, be able to nurse at the drop of a …milk? and still be able to bend/crawl/ergobounce and not look too disheveled.
This first look would be great for a kid birthday party, or a daytime holiday get together. Dark jeans, a cute top, and round toes flats. Add in a sweet little vintage scarf and I look pulled together enough but still super movable.
This second outfit is better for an evening (but still kid friendly, as all the parties we go to are!) party. All the same needs (nursable, ergoable, movement friendly) apply but this one is a little fancier and I even did my hair! Well, if no heat curls count as “doing” then I did it! I have been trying to figure out it peplum shirts would work for me (hips for days!) because I love how they look but wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. Then I realized, who cares!, I love them and that’s all that matters. And, I do think that they work well on my hourglass shape.
This weekend will be partypacked. We are invited to 4(!) parties on Saturday and are striving to make it to three of them…. eeesh, I am tired just thinking about it! Sunday will be a recoup day full of coffee, cozies, and Christmas card addressing.
