Goals

I have set weight loss goals before and they (I)  always fail. They fail because I don’t need a quick fix, I need a lifestyle change. I need health and wellness to be my end goals not size 4 and X amount of pounds.

So here are my goals

Long Term (over the next year)
* To run (another) half Marathon with Charlie
* To hike Oyster Dome and be the one to carry Nolie the whole way up
* To feel comfortable in my own skin (not based on a number on the scale, a number on my pants, or anyone else’s words)
* To feel confident at the gym
*go totally car free for two weeks

Short Term (over the next few months)
* Comfortably run four miles (I can do 2.5 now)
*Stop eating when I am full
*Always be stocked with fruits, veggies, salad fixings
*Meal Plan
*Go the the gym at least three times a week (so far I am actually DOING that one!)
*Attend Saturday morning Yoga every weekend that we are home
*Get on my bike, more!

So… anyone else doing this? Any body else being bit of by the spring time weather bug and ready to get active and joy filled? Getting on my bike and riding around town has been a big motivator. Not only is it showing me how weak I have gotten (even little hills just slay me!) but also how much I want to feel good and feel high on health. Cheesy? maybe. Totally legit? YES!

PS. I took really embarrassing “before” photos and hid them so well on my computer that it will take me forever to find them again!

  1. I love this! If you ever want an oyster dome hiking partner, I'm game!

  2. i am running the seattle rock and roll half marathon this june! you should do it too!

  3. I am all about the healthy lifestyle…I HATE DIETS! (they don't work long term for anyone!!!!!) More people should embrace the healthy lifestyle instead of the quick fix. Have fun with your goals, they sound exciting!

  4. i love your style. oh yes, i do!

  5. Hey lady, I'm totally with you. I've gone for 2 runs in 2 weeks (which is the most I've run in 2 years). I'm not sure running'll be my thing, but it did feel good to get out and excercising!
The good thing about getting back in shape is that even 15 min kicks your butt, which revs your metabolism. It's a trade-off later, you'll be in better shape and thus can hike without getting out of breath, etc, but you're going to see big dramatic changes without as much time right now. And doesn't it feel good to be sore? I love that feeling.
Anyways, I have 'before' photos too. They're awful. But they certainly help on my bad days now. It's important to see your progress even when you don't feel it.

  6. Sorry for bombarding you with comments, two more thoughts:
You and Nolie have the most original, awesome fashion.
and I'm really excited to read about your successes and progress. :)

  7. goals are awesome!!

    girls got style!

  8. I'm totally with you. It must be something in the air because I have this urge to be healthier – not skinnier. I want to feel good about myself like I used to in high school (when I was active). I don't do running but I've done several workout videos and I feel great. At first I would have trouble doing a 15 min video and now I'm doing over an hour of videos. I'm exhausted afterwards but I wake up feeling great and in a good mood. Good luck!

I agree–it's not about the size or scale numbers, but being comfortable in your own skin, which is different for everyone.

  10. Michelle says:

This is GREAT! I am all about health for mind body and spirit! I lost over 100 lb's by changing my lifestyle not "dieting" eating clean healthy foods and moving my body! I am currently in love with walking! I walk any where from 4 to 6 miles 3 to 5 days per week! keep it up Autumn, it is so worth it!
